Also known in some places of Peru as “La Ola Suave“, Gentle Wave is a jam band and audio project I have with a few good friends. It started in 2016 just because we would get together every Monday night and jam for hours. Over the next years, we recorded days of material, scored two short films, and performed live around Mexico. During that time, we hardly wrote any music in the traditional sense. We would show up and jam something new every time but try to record it.
Since then, we have written some songs, but usually perform them more like jazz standards than as arranged rock songs. Thus, most of what you’ll hear from us has been improvised on the spot. We have a couple of early things in Spotify, Soundcloud, and Youtube. In 2023 we released several new singles and have an album in the works. However, the band is slower these days since I moved to Barcelona and everybody’s busy with other projects and family commitments.
Here is one of the short films we scored. Some of our music was also recently featured in a 2024 VR game called Kid Pilot.
